Interview with Katie Dowty

As we detailed last week, one of the recipients of the historic sevens playing contracts  was Katie Dowty.  New England Rugby staff members caught up with Katie as she was preparing to move into her new digs in Chula Vista. 

New England Rugby  – Katie, were you expecting to get the contract, or actively bidding for it?

Katie Dowty  – Ric had told some of us that the contracts were a possibility, so I certainly was never expecting a contract but I was hoping for it and could only keep working hard and performing in hopes of earning one.  When he told me I’d be getting one of the eight contracts I was bursting inside – it’s a dream come true of course, but it’s opportunity that none of us could even dream of when we fell in love with rugby, so in a way it’s even MORE than a dream come true.  It’s unbelievable. 
NER – What do you anticipate the next few months to be like? What is the next big event on the horizon?
