NYAC comes closer to clinching first place despite losing to Old Blue 26-25, Boston over Middlesex 79-0, while Boston Irish defeats Mystic River 36-15.

In a game Old Blue simply had to win to try to keep pace at the top of the table, Old Blue stormed out of the gate, dominating the forwards battle and entered into a 23-3 lead. But NYAC came back into the game, scoring twenty two unanswered points to snatch a two point lead with ten minutes remaining. Old Blue’s James Bird hit his third penalty of the day to recapture the lead and Old Blue won 26-25.

Boston RFC had no trouble with Middlesex, winning 79-0 in perfect rugby conditions. The possibility of point differential coming into play ensured Boston did not relax all day, keeping the scoreboard ticking over.

In the closest game of the day, the Boston Irish Wolfhounds defeated Mystic River, also in beautiful rugby playing conditions.
