Spring 2014 Playoffs recap

Before we jump into the Fall season, we should take a moment to review the playoff performance of New England teams in other Division other than Division 1.  Scarce resources limit the amount of time and coverage we can devote.

In Division 2, a strong New Haven side were beaten by Rocky Gorge by the closest possible margin, 34-33.  Rocky Gorge is a powerhouse in D2, and they went on to win the title. New Haven defeated Portland, Monmouth and Atlanta Old White on their great run.

In Division 2, Seacoast lost to Old Blue New York’s Division 3 side in the Round of 16 by a score of 46-22. It is always difficult, and sometimes controvertial, to play a D3 side like this. Old Blue went on to have a great run, capturing the title.

Chicago was crushed in the final by Oregon Sports Union, Oregon winning their last three games by a combined score of 150-15.

In Women’s Division 2 Beantown had a great run, beating fellow New England team Burlington in the Round of 16, defeating Fort Miami in the quarters before losing heavily to eventual champions Pittsburgh in the semi final.
